My mother lived in the nearby Forest Arms apt. in the early 1920's. Most of my friends, from OLQM, lived in Forest Hills Gardens. Boys from my class were "Ball Boys" for the tennis stadium. We used to play around Station Square & run up and down the stairs of the RR station. Now, living in NC, I know a member of the Cord Meyer family who developed "The Gardens". Many happy memories.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449761564484963359.post-90359742321469345022015-08-11T21:27:39.294-04:002015-08-11T21:27:39.294-04:00Yes, the NY Public Library's collection is fan...Yes, the NY Public Library's collection is fantastic. The notations on back can be valuable. Due to one such notation my church, First Presbyterian of Newtown, was able to confirm that our 1822 former manse still exists, moved a block and a half away in 1924, and much remodeled. The city took great pains to preserve photos of old places, particularly in regard to the widening of Queens Blvd. in 1924 and other road construction requiring destruction of old buildings.. I am so glad also that Ms. Mueller preserved the photos of Rego Park.<br />Marjorie Melikiannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449761564484963359.post-29088184981129071002014-10-01T15:13:37.095-04:002014-10-01T15:13:37.095-04:00congrats micheal thanks for keeping my memories al...congrats micheal thanks for keeping my memories alive for others to share Stacey allamAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7449761564484963359.post-64798709363493601962014-07-27T02:38:20.146-04:002014-07-27T02:38:20.146-04:00I remember going there in the 1960's and enjoy...I remember going there in the 1960's and enjoying 40 cent ice cream sodas served up by the kindly Mr. and Mrs. Witt.
