There was a recent battle in Brooklyn concerning the construction of a residential building right in the sightline between the Altar of Liberty on Battle Hill and the Statue of Liberty. Fortunately, the building was stopped at three storeys and the sightline is (barely) preserved. Had it not been for the outrage of the community and the folks supporting Greenwood Cemetery, vistors to the site would be looking at a wall instead of a magnificent harbor view.<br /> <br />If people don't scream, developers can just throw money at the city and build or destroy anything they want. <br /><br />When I think of the harm single-handedly done by Robert Moses in the name of progress, I cringe!<br /><br />So if you see something, say something!
